Myself and one other employee were responsible for all weekly seeding, preparation of growing containers and media at this upcountry "living" lettuce farm whose accounts included Whole Foods and Costco.

My duties the first school year involved preparing and teaching geotechnical, environmental engineering and math concepts to approximately 300 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th graders at Haiku Elementary School. I was also responsible for organizing materials for hands on classroom experiments which facilitate a deeper understanding of the engineering concepts.

The second school year I taught small math focus groups to children in grades 1st-5th.

As an assistant to the Executive Director of this non-profit certified organic farm/community health center, my primary responsibilities included managing 8-10 trainees working on the farm as part of an agricultural exchange program as well as all aspects of organic vegetable production. My oversight included administrative duties such as keeping organic certification records, the writing of a farm food safety plan and implementation of organic & food safety principles. In addition, I completed a Cornell University sponsored Produce Safety Alliance Growers Training in October 2017. I initiated new projects such as bulk production of sunflower sprouts, the making of herbal teas from existing native plants on the farm as well as egg production from chicks to laying hens.

My employment with ICS Intl. began as an independent contractor, performing organic crop inspections until January 2016 when I was hired as an employee specializing in crop compliance reviews in addition to inspections. Complete familiarity with & understanding of the National Organic Program, proficiency in Mac, MS Word, & Excel were just a few requirements of the position. After starting with Hana Fresh in July 2017, I became an independent contractor once again, performing crop inspections & compliance work in my spare time.

My responsibilities focused on teaching volunteers, (wwoof.org ), who stayed at the farm for 3-6 months, everything about organic farming from seed to sale. Daily tasks included creating work schedules for the volunteers consisting of seeding, planting, fertilizing, harvesting, sales & delivery of certified organic produce to local stores & restaurants. All employees & volunteers were required to participate in weekly Compassionate Communication classes.

This unique farm is owned by two Lahaina restaurant partners who use produce from the farm to supply their restaurants. Truly a farm to table experience. Daily tasks included seeding, planting & harvesting of vegetables & fruits. I also led daily lunch tours explaining the basic principles of organic farming as well as assisting guests in the harvest of various vegetables & fruit for a lunch made on-site by a visiting chef.
