The Business Technology Coordinator is responsible for acquisition and implementation of business solutions for the Social Services; Long Term Care, Family Services, Children's Services and Business & Financial Management divisions.  Consults with the Commissioner, various Directors, Senior stakeholders and a broad cross-section of user groups to negotiate and deliver project support and budget for on-going business system projects. Responsible for developing and monitoring  departmental policies for information access, privacy and security. Regularly conducts environmental analysis and provides research to support policy development.  Establishes and leads cross divisional committees, project teams and working groups to ensure Social Services strategic objectives are promoted and achieved.

  • Co-produced and lead Durham's first civic engagement "Map-a-thon" in partnership with Code For Canada, Social Services policy staff, technology partners and local school board participation 
  • Participant member - Regional Diversity and Inclusion staff working group to develop first Regional policy draft

The Applications Support Coordinator represented senior leadership in the Region of Durham Social Services Department as technical site lead for the Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS) Social Assistance Management System (SAMS) project activities. Key responsibilities included liaising with Ministry SME's to deliver of project tasks related to SAMS technical compliance and Regional site readiness activities. Managed all aspects of the Ontario Works Cheque Management project. Liaison with Royal Bank of Canada, Regional Finance and SYMCOR to perform compliance activities as required to meet Finance and bank acceptance. Work with Ministry vendors to implement software applications on time and accurately.
  • Developed and implemented Social Assistance "Free Tax Clinics" model for residents in poverty.  In partnership with University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) business and accounting students
  • Champion and project lead for Provincial Business Modernization initiatives and policy development
  • Successfully managed Regional SAMS project activities and "Go-Live" activities with no disruption to over 300 business users.

Administrative Specialist  - Special Projects collaborated with with cross-functional teams to draft project schedules and plans.
