I have over 14 years experience as an Elementary teacher. I taught First grade for 9 years. Along with that experience, I have experience working on the computer using various programs. I have experience working with adults, children and families. I read, write and speak Spanish fluently. I am immersed in the Latino culture and participate daily within that culture.
I am currently seeking employment outside the realm of education. In addition to the work experience listed on my application, I have taught Adult education classes for Citizenship preparation. In this employment I aided more than 50 adults to prepare them to pass the U. S. Citizenship exam prior to becoming naturalized citizens. My duties included, but were not limited to, record keeping, teaching study skills and strategies, and reporting student progress.
Through Substitute teaching and working as a full time teacher, I gained experience preparing reports on Excel, using and responding to emails on Outlook. I have been able to familiarize myself with the Creative Curriculum and its components, as well as form an understanding of WAkids which is used by some Preschools and many Kindergarten teachers.
I enjoy working with adults, children and families. I work well with others, and I am a team player. I am also a fast learner. This community is very special to me. I have lived in Mattawa for 23 years and I consider it my home. I know the surrounding communities within Grant county. I am willing to travel for employment. I have extended family here in Mattawa and have grown and maintained many relationships with members of the community.

I met with Child care providers to explain the Little Achievers and help them through the Level 2 process. Helped Family child care providers and Center child care providers in Spanish to help them meet their goals.
As a Substitute teacher, I taught at all grade levels and in all disciplines.
Taught as a long term Substitute teacher in a Kindergarten classroom for 2 months.
I team taught the Third Grade Curriculum. I was responsible for Reading and Social Studies for 56 Third Grade Students. Responsibilities: assessment, differentiated instruction, on-line Grade book, parent communication, and student supervision.
I taught two years as a 2nd Grade Bilingual teacher and nine years as a 1st Grade Bilingual teacher. Both disciplines of Reading and Writing were taught in Spanish to develop the students' primary language and vocabulary. I taught Citizenship prep classes off campus in Mattawa, WA to adults seeking help in filling out the application to become a Naturalized Citizen of the United States. We spent time studying and developing memory strategies for the 100 questions for the INS exam. I taught 4 hours a week for about 10 weeks.

I have helped with the Mattawa Youth Summer Soccer League (2009-2012) with their: registrations, filing of the league paperwork, so that they would have Non-profit status, held parent meetings, and distributed all parent information; concussion information, rules, etc.
Every year I help out with an annual fund raiser which helps to raise funds for our local church, Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Parish. We set up a booth where we prepare Mexican food, that we sell to those attending the Mexican Independence Day Celebration.
I have volunteered in the school to translate at parent PAC meetings, Translate at Elementary music programs, and volunteered to make calls to registered voters to remind them to vote and about the upcoming levy.
