    Work History
    Graduate Assistant 08/2017 to Current
    Frostburg State University Frostburg, MD

    I currently provide tutoring to undergraduate students in the Computer Science, IT, and Secure Computing majors at my university. Along with maintaining office hours 4 out of 5 days of the week and being on call via email, I lead two labs a week in which I provide feedback on student work and help them if they begin to struggle with Java and OOP concepts. Not only does this provide me an excellent leadership opportunity, but it also helps cement basic concepts that I learned as an Undergraduate student.

    I always try to go the extra mile and stay after my labs if a student, or a few students, are struggling with their assignment. I take my role seriously, which is why I also always provide feedback to the learner when their work is incorrect, improving my communication skills along the way.

    Research Assistant 08/2015 to 05/2016
    Frostburg State University Frostburg, MD
    I performed research on the C programming language, the Java programming language, and OpenCV so that I could provide a professor an accurate assessment on whether or not his program could be converted from C to Java. I completed my assessment and confirmed that it could, in fact, be converted successfully. His program was for visual forensics in which the goal was to detect whether or not an image was altered in some way, such as through Photoshop.
    Grant Project 02/2017 to 05/2017
    Frostburg State University Frostburg, MD
    Sadly I entered this project quite late and I was only able to work on it for a few months before I graduated. In that time we worked with a live client for a Telemedicine project. It provided me experience with both working with a client and working with ASP.NET. I worked on the Front End with another student in the project, thus the amount of C# I was exposed to for that project was limited. Nevertheless, it was a great experience as it exposed me to working with a client, working on a team larger than four people, and the Model-View-Controller system.

    Accomplishments
    C++ Experience:
    Used C++ during a semester to build a simple program that took in a file with numbers as input, organized those numbers into 2D arrays that formed matrices, and then added the matrices together. The result matrix was then printed to an output file.

    SQL Experience:
    Currently working through designing a database for a mock hospital. This requires the creation of an ER diagram with weak entities, strong entities, roles, and numerous attributes. The ER diagram must then be converted into tables and a primary key must be chosen for each table. The tables must then be run through 1st, 2nd, 3rd, BCNF, and 4th normalization. After PKs are chosen, FKs are set up, and normalization is finished the tables are then set up using SQL before numerous SQL queries are made. These SQL queries are designed to ensure the design is on point, therefore the point behind the exercise is learning how to design a database, as anyone can set up some tables.

    Java Experience:
    A few programs I have used Java to create are: a spell checker that implements a chained hashmap, a program that checks if a String is valid for a user defined DFA that uses a graph structure, and a program that simulates several page replacement algorithms. All of these can be found on my GitHub.
