Professional Summary

I am a certified hemodialysis RN who started my career as a patient care technician. I went to nursing school and graduated in 1994. The majority of my career has been as a hemodialysis nurse, with brief forays into burn ICU and Labor and delivery.Upon completion of nursing school became an outpatient hemodialysis clinic charge RN and there I learned things such as medication management, staff supervision, scheduling, and caring for the very complex nephrology patient. I then, after a few years, decided to join the Desert Samaritan acute team, which greatly broadened my knowledge of now acute and chronic care, plasmapheresis and peritoneal dialysis. Subsequently decided to try my hand as a Director of nursing at an outpatient clinic, which further added skills such as budgeting, continous quality improvement, and building my staff as a patient-focused team. I was then lured away to join an acute team and assumed a charge nurse position, adding to my skill list scheduling of patients, triaging treatments, interfacing with staff, physicians, patients and hospital staff. I enjoy a challenge, am very organized, proactive, and a tireless communicator. I also very much enjoy patient care, my patients have taught me a lot over the years- I consider it an honor to take care of people in a most fragile state.
