Accurately assesses the fire scene/emergency situation to aid in command and control of the operation, gathering vital information necessary to conduct investigation and to brief the Fire Chief and other command staff having jurisdiction. Effectively investigates and determines probable origin and cause of fire, recommends sound corrective action and preventative measures. Assists in the evaluation and compliance with risk management assessment, operational procedures and safety compliance. Coordinates with other section supervisors concerning matters of work accomplishment, priorities and procedures.

Supervise all 10 fire stations with a total of 38 assigned personnel. Responsible for all of the shifts training. Organize and manage all probationary personnel testing and evaluations for all three ranks of Firefighter, Engineer and Captain.
Special Accomplishments: Incident Commander on several complex structure fire incidents, assisted with Levi Stadium rescue response plan development, participated as instructor for the Santa Clara County Fire Officers Leadership Academy, lead instructor for Santa Clara County Joint Fire Academy and assisted with Santa Clara Fire Department Lexipol policy development.
President of International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1171. Representing 158 IAFF members. Protect the wages, hours and working conditions of our members by maintaining a collaborative working relationship with our City and Administrative staff.
Special Accomplishments: Successfully negotiated four labor contracts as the lead of the union negotiations team, developed and launched a new website for Local 1171, developed guiding principles document for Executive Board, worked successfully with administration on creative staffing solutions for services provided at Levi Stadium.
Respond to routine and emergency calls for the protection of life and property. Supervise a crew of four personnel on Truck and Rescue Company 2. Ensure that all fire department and city policies are followed and implemented.
Special Accomplishments: Served as 2007 Recruit Academy Coordinator, developed and implemented Volunteer/Reserve CA State FFI Program, developed and implemented Technical Rescue Training Program for truck personnel, developed a records retention policy for the Training Division and have been a department evaluator on over 600 oral interviews for the position of entry-level firefighter.
Drive and operate all types of Santa Clara Fire Department apparatus. Responsible for transporting all crew to and from the emergency scene. Maintain readiness of apparatus.
Served as the shift vice-president, representing 35-40 assigned shift personnel in all matters relating to wages, hours and working conditions. Represented all employees on assigned shift in all duty of fair representation issues.
