I have completed but not limited too apprehended suspects, read Miranda Rights and transported offenders to jail. Gathered necessary information for court appearances and testified as a witness under oath in court. Actively patrolled assigned areas to prevent and detect crimes, while secured crime scenes, gathered evidence and questioned witnesses. I have also conducted preliminary investigations at the scenes of major crimes.

Police officers have different tactics and procedures than that of the military. I have been asked to help mentor and direct my fellow officers when conducting training on room clearing procedures that has worked while in the military.

To be a good leader, you must have the ability to follow. Setting the example is crucial when dealing with local law enforcement. Showing the younger officers the demeanor in which to be successful, while mentoring them on life set skills that will make them productive in their professional and personal career.

Interpersonal Ability/Collaboration
While as a police officer the ability to resolve and manage conflict is crucial in order to be a successful law enforcement officer. There have been times while as an law enforcement officer I have had to use my ability to talk in individuals in different scenarios, with different tone, approach, demonstrating levels of respect, and intensity. For example, while addressing a domestic disturbance, I have to show impartiality to both side in order to gain a better perspective of the entire situation. While talking to both parties, its the ability to obtain the proper information to be able to determine who is the aggressor and whom is the victim.

The collaboration while working with other law enforcement agencies, emergency medical services, and community is paramount. While I have worked with all of these individuals, it is my ability to talk to each of these agencies to identify what is needed within the scope of the situation. This allows all agencies to contribute while positively impacting the situation. For example while responding to a critical response, being able to talk to law enforcement officers, emergency medial personal, and members of the community contribute in help solve the incident.

Organizing and Planning
The schedule in our department is constantly moving, things change, andwe (asofficers) are responsible to ensure that communication is given. For example, the department was asked to provide duty for a local warehouse during the holiday. There was a conflict of scheduling so I contacted my fellow officers and explained the situation. Through this we planned me to come in earlier than scheduled, and had an other officer stay later than scheduled. I personally stayed to ensure that everything went as planned.

Problem Solving/ Judgement
As a law enforcement officer, everyday I am identifying problems, making decision, manage risks and evaluating/ analyzing problems and situations. For example, I witnessed a vehicle, that was speeding and swerving all of the road. I conducted a traffic stop, the individual was sobbing, having her phone in her hand, and was shaking. This individual had just lost her mother, and was trying to find childcare for her three children. In this moment, I asked the lady to step out of the vehicle, to walk to the side of the road, and allowed her an opportunity to gather herself away from her children. I provided her with some personal advice, ensured that she was able to drive, and gave her some information on services available .

Flexibility/ Adaptability
Last Thanksgiving and Christmas in our department, I received a phone call asking me if I was able to come into work. I understand that I have an obligation, and to have a successful department we (officers) have to be flexible and adaptable. Holidays are not excluded.

I am constantly being proactive as a law enforcement officer. I witness individuals with car problems on a daily basis. I am always stopping to change peoples tires, and to unlock their car doors when keys where locked inside. I have also taken the opportunity to reach out to the community, I have played basketball with the kids in the street, I have helped bring groceries inside peoples homes, and I have helped applied band-aid to scraped knee\\\\'s.

When dealing with an individuals that have been involved in a domestic violence incident it is through listening and interpreting skills that allow you to determine whom the primary aggressor is, and whom the victim is. In once example I had a lady that was beaten by her husband, but through persuasion identified that she initially took a knife and threatened to hurt her husband. Though listening and interpretation I got her to state that "if someone doesn\\\\'t do something she was going to kill him." This was a key factor within my case.

For example the Target chain had a huge issue with a security problem allowing individuals personal information get out and caused a huge identity scare. The company decided to have a huge sale in which our product was way below cost, I understanding what was going to happen went to each one of my Targets in my area, and determined that the product we had was not going to be enough.
