I began working when I was 14 years old on my neighbors farm growing: grass seed, sweet corn, beans, peas, and other seed crops. I continued working for my neighbor for eight years. While in college I would come back home during the summer months and assist with working ground, planting, monitoring fields, and harvest. While in college at Washington State University I studied agricultural sciences and took several classes in economics, chemistry, and biology. After graduation I took a job working for a vegetable producer in eastern Oregon where I was in charge of managing the companies waste water farm and being an assistant field man. 
One year later I was offered an agronomist position at a vegetable seed company in Skagit county. In this position I have worked with many different farmers and have grown several different crops throughout all of western Washington.

In this position I contract acres with many different growers throughout western Washington. I have to place acres carefully to prevent cross pollination with other seed companies crops and our own varieties. I have to scout the fields frequently to ensure that there are no: offtypes in the field, no insects and no diseases to make sure the seed is marketable. I have to write extensive reports to upper management on the status of the crop and coordinate with the grower on when to harvest the crop and with how it can be handled when it arrives at our facility. I also have to do various trials with our different parent lines and other experimental productions. I also am in charge of growing our own stock seed which I am the grower for.

Primary duties included speaking with prospective customers about their current agronomic practices and nutrient plans and working with current clients to improve yields and quality in their cropping systems. I worked in co-operation for Fresno State and Gar Tootelian Inc. as a field checker and a Fertilizer Crew Member. My duties included checking the traps and scouting the orchard and vine crops at the Fresno State Farm and servicing equipment and filling orders at the Fertilizer Department at Gar Tootelian's main plant in Reedley, CA.

Duties included placement and management of traps for various pests as well as scouting various crops for pests and occasional collection of tissue and soil samples for testing. Trap management included counting of pests, replacing the bottoms of traps, and replacement of pheromone lures.
