  • Diagnostic Accuracy of Ultrasonography in Blunt Abdominal Trauma  (MD Dissertation), Supervisor Dr. Afshin Mohammadi,  2007

Emergency ultrasonography with the " Focused Abdominal Sonography for Trauma" (FAST) technique was performed in this clinical trial prior to any other diagnostic methods in patients with blunt abdominal. This technique is used to detect free peritoneal fluid. Then accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative

predictive value was evaluated for this technique.

  • Ultrasound-targeted microbubble destruction-mediated miRNA-495 delivery improves cardiac function post myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury through inhibiting apoptosis (MSc Dissertation), Supervisor Dr. Howard Leong-Poi,  2018

The crucial regulatory functions of miRNAs in multiple pathways involved in cardiovascular diseases have been well-studied. RUNX3 is a post-transcriptional factor that induces apoptosis in various cell lines. We hypothesized that miR-495 improves myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury by targeting RUNX3 and related regulatory pathways. Our data indicate that miR-495-targeted gene delivery improves myocardial remodeling and LV function post myocardial I/R injury. Specifically, miRNA-495 decreases RUNX3 expression as well as regulates key components of apoptosis to ameliorate myocardial I/R injury.
